Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
MDS Driving School (trading as Metro Driving School) is a driving school based in Slough, Berkshire, United Kingdom. We are the “data controller” for the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used.
You can contact us about anything in this policy by email at info@mdsdriving.co.uk or by phone on 07853 907855.
[CONFIRM: ICO registration number, if applicable]
2. What personal data we collect
We only collect what we need to respond to you:
- Enquiry form. When you submit the contact form we collect your name, email address, phone number, your preferred contact method, and the content of your message.
- Website analytics. If — and only if — you accept analytics cookies, Google sets cookies that record how you use the site (pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location). You can decline this and the site works exactly the same.
- Administration. Our own staff area uses a single strictly-necessary session cookie to keep an authorised user signed in. It is never set for ordinary visitors.
We do not collect payment card details through this website, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange lessons — lawful basis: legitimate interests (responding to someone who has asked us to get in touch), and where you go on to book, performance of a contract.
- To understand how the website is used — lawful basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time.
- To keep the website secure — lawful basis: legitimate interests (preventing spam and abuse of our enquiry form).
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
4. Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Resend — delivers the notification email to us and the confirmation email to you when you submit an enquiry.
- Supabase — hosts the database in which enquiries are stored.
- Vercel — hosts and serves this website.
- Google Analytics / Google Ads — measurement and advertising. These tags are consent-gated: no Google script is loaded and no analytics cookie is set unless you press “Accept” on our cookie banner. If you press “Reject”, or later change your mind via the Cookie Preferences link in the footer, we expire those cookies.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the providers’ own UK/EU approved safeguards, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.
We will also disclose information if we are legally required to do so.
5. How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, so that we can pick up a conversation where it left off, and are then deleted. Records relating to lessons actually booked and paid for are kept for 6 yearsto meet UK tax and accounting requirements. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s own retention settings.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate;
- ask us to erase your data where we no longer need it (“right to be forgotten”);
- ask us to restrict how we use it;
- object to processing that we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it;
- ask us to transfer your data to you or another provider (portability).
To exercise any of these, email info@mdsdriving.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.
7. Cookies
Strictly-necessary cookies (such as your cookie choice itself, and the staff-area session cookie) are always set because the site cannot work without them. Analytics and advertising cookies are only ever set after you accept them. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Preferences link at the bottom of any page, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page always shows when it was last changed.
